ABOUT US
Who We Are:
Safe Homes of Orange County is a private, not-for-profit
agency established in 1986 to provide comprehensive and confidential domestic violence services
to victims and their families.
Our Vision:
-
To promote the eradication of domestic violence throughout Orange County;

To ensure the safety of survivors and their improved access to
services by
reducing common barriers;

To support the survivors' freedom of choice;
-
To hold abusers accountable for the violence they perpetrate;
-
To advocate for the development of victim-sensitive laws, policies and procedures
across all systems that impact survivors of domestic violence.
What We Do:
Safe Homes provides emergency, non-emergency and wrap-around services
for
individuals and families
affected by domestic violence. These services are available to residential
and non-residential clients.
Our comprehensive services and programs include:

24-Hour Hotline;

13-Bed Shelter Facility;

Residential and Non-Residential Advocates;
-
Legal Assistance (Orange County Family Justice Center);

A Liaison with the Department of Social Services;
-
El Abrazo de Mis Hermanas (Latina Advocate);
-
Court Advocate with the Office of the Orange County District Attorney;
Middletown and Port Jervis City Courts.

Weekly Support Groups (in English and in Spanish);
-
An array of education initiatives, including Teen Dating-Violence
Prevention Program.
2010 At-A-Glance
In 2010...
-
Our 24-hour-hotline answered 5,783 domestic
violence calls and 4,720 information and referral calls;
-
Safe Homes Advocates provided 1,100 emergency services and 4,117
advocacy services and made 4,758 victim outreach and follow-up calls on Domestic Incident Reports;
-
Our shelter housed 64 adult victims of domestic violence and 60 children;
-
Our education and prevention initiatives resulted in 211
presentations and trainings reaching over 4,581 people, including
2,732 teenagers.

Safe Homes' Holiday Adoption Program (a.k.a. Santa
Project) fulfilled the wish-lists of 330 women and children.
